    H.E.L.P. Is On The Way!

We all know how difficult it can be to keep our children fed, bathed, clothed, rested, and
prepared for school each and every day.  Now imagine trying to do all that while living
from a car or a tent and with no financial resources.  That's exactly what many
Hillsborough County families face each and every day.  As a matter of fact, over 550
students have already been identifed as homeless in Hillsborough County within the
first two weeks of this school year.  Last year, there were 2250 homeless students
throughout the year.

The Homeless Education & Literacy Project (H.E.L.P.) Team was formed by the county
to support those families.  The H.E.L.P. team is composed of four social workers and
2 resource teachers who help with enrollment, transportation issues, clothing, school
supplies, tutoring, and more for families in need.

And now Carrollwood Elementary families have a chance to help, too.  Our PTA is
currently collecting donations of the following items:

  • small containers of laundry detergent
  • towels
  • wash cloths
  • sheets/pillows
  • hair accessories
  • combs
  • blankets
  • jackets or hoodies (sweatshirts)
  • baby items-
  • diapers
  • wet wipes

Just drop your items off in the PTA Room at Carrollwood Elementary.  Please label
them with "HELP Donation", and we will get them where they need to go.  To learn
more, please check out the H.E.L.P. Team's web-page at

And thanks for HELPing!
