Here is where we'll inform you of our current volunteer needs. Thanks for checking this page and helping us out in our crunch times.
NEED COPY VOLUNTEER FOR SPEECH PATHOLOGIST
As of September 24, 2007, our Speech Pathologist and assistant needs help with copying. They need 2 volunteers to make copies for over 100 children on a regular basis. She needs both classwork and homework photocopied for these children. Please contact Davina Wallace and Alyssa Shafii if you or anyone you know can help. Thank you!
We all know how difficult it can be to keep our children fed, bathed, clothed, rested, and prepared for school each and every day. Now imagine trying to do all that while living from a car or a tent and with no financial resources. That's exactly what many Hillsborough County families face each and every day. As a matter of fact, over 550 students have already been identifed as homeless in Hillsborough County within the first two weeks of this school year. Last year, there were 2250 homeless students throughout the year.
The Homeless Education & Literacy Project (H.E.L.P.) Team was formed by the county to support those families. The H.E.L.P. team is composed of four social workers and 2 resource teachers who help with enrollment, transportation issues, clothing, school supplies, tutoring, and more for families in need.
And now Carrollwood Elementary families have a chance to help, too. Our PTA is currently collecting donations of the following items:
small containers of laundry detergent
towels
wash cloths
sheets/pillows
hair accessories
combs
blankets
jackets or hoodies (sweatshirts)
baby items-
diapers
wet wipes
Just drop your items off in the PTA Room at Carrollwood Elementary. Please label them with "HELP Donation", and we will get them where they need to go. To learn more, please check out the H.E.L.P. Team's web-page at http://helpteam.mysdhc.org/. And thanks for HELPing!
